Make use of Tour Guides in places where you do not speak the language, as you will get more out of your holiday being able to have a local give you information Check climates so that you can pack correct clothing. Good walking shoes are a must for any tours that include sight seeing
Documents
Make sure that your passport is valid at least six months after your return date. Apply for an International Driver's Licence if you are thinking of driving or hiring a car. Carry copies of your passport, air tickets and travelers cheques in case of theft. Keep these separate to the originals. If you have the facility - scan these and e-mail them to your e-mail account that you can access internationally.
Visas
Always check if visas are necessary for ALL destinations that you will be visiting and apply well in advance Check previous visas are still valid - ie. 10 year USA Visas If they are in previous passports, take these along
Medical
Always check what medical requirements are necessary BEFORE departure. Some vaccinations are required to be done at least two weeks before travel. Check that your vaccination card is still valid A medical card with your name, blood group, medical details and doctor's contact details can be laminated and carried with you.
Travel Insurance
Everyone should take out some form of travel insurance before setting off on any trip outside the borders of their country. This should include sufficient medical cover and general insurance for liability and luggage. Credit card payments for air tickets do NOT offer sufficient cover - so check with your travel agent or credit card company about upgrading. Some medical aid schemes also offer international cover, but it is not automatic, so check with them and make sure that you are properly covered. If you are, get a letter stating that you are covered for the dates of your trip as well as the amount of cover. Also get international contact numbers in the case of an emergency.
Luggage
Make sure that your luggage is marked with a clear label with your home address. It is adviseable to have a label inside as well in case the outer label gets ripped off. Make sure that your case is securely locked as we.. The best options is to have all check-in luggage plastic wrapped

Arrange your travellers cheques and credit cards with your bank before you leave. It is good to have some cash of the first country you are visiting for tips etc. as you may arrive outside banking hours Do not exchange money at unauthorised 'dealers' or on local black markets and NEVER display what cash you are carrying

Bull Fighting in Spain
The tradition, as it is practiced today, involves professional performers (in Spanish toreros or matadores, in Portuguese toureiros) who execute various formal moves with the goal of appearing graceful and confident, while masterful over the bull itself. Such maneuvers are performed at close range, and conclude with the death of the bull by a well-placed sword thrust as the finale. In Portugal the finale consists of a tradition called the pega, where men (Forcados) are dressed in a traditional costume of damask or velvet, with long knit hats as worn by the famous Ribatejo campinos (bull headers). However, in my opinion, I don’t like bull fighting. It’s simply killing innocent animals for fun. It’s against nature and its laws. but, many people like it.

KATHMANDU, April 22 - The newly created security force guarding Mt Everest to control possible anti-China protests Monday barred a US national of an Everest expedition team after he was found to be carrying a pro-Tibet banner in a security check.
Officials confirmed the incident, but could not divulge details. “We are trying to get more details surrounding the incident to determine the nature of violation and the extent of action,” said an official at the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation.
A source informed the Post that Himalaya Guide, a trekking agency that manages high mountain expedition, had acquired permission for the American climber to conquer the world’s highest mountain this spring season. “After being sent back, he is on the way to Kathmandu,” he said.
According to the source, he was ascending Mt. Everest as a member of Eco-Everest Expedition-2008. The expedition is being held to draw attention to the rapidly melting glaciers and increasing amount of garbage dumped in the Himalaya. Nepal recently deployed dozens of armed police and soldiers in the Mt Everest region with orders to even shoot, if necessary, at demonstrators on its side of the mountain during the Olympic flame’s climb up the peak. The official said the government has issued a directive to all expeditions, prior to setting off on Everest climb, not to carry any non-essential items, which may be used to violate Nepal’s One-Door China policy. In case any member does not abide by the directive, we may also take action against the team leader and the expedition handling agency as well, said the official.
Nepal has officially banned mountaineering above Camp Two until 10th of May, the time the Olympic torch is expected to reach the summit.
Chinese climbers plan to take the Olympic flame to the top of the world’s highest peak, at 8,848 meters as part of the global relay leading up to the August 8 opening of the Summer Olympics in Beijing.
Spring is the most popular season for climbing Mount Everest. The Nepali government has granted permits to dozens of climbers from 32 expeditions this season. This exceeds the number of teams — 24 — last year.
